There are various known deficiencies with the variety of Poly/ML versions 
that we support officially -- David Matthews is continously improving the 
situation.  One needs to try minimizing the pressure on old versions to 
keep things running, without forced discontinuation of a version without 
really strong reasons.

In Isabelle/344712917580 I have tweaked isatest again, and for the moment 
it looks like the failure does not happen in this configuration.
